A new challenge arises for the Aviation industry as Canadian training and simulator provider CAE, is forecasting that in the next decade, the demand for new pilots will balloon to 264,000.
Factors like age-based retirement and fleet growth are fundamental factors that influenced pilot demand pre-COVID19 outbreak and continue to contribute to the current shortage. More so, the Aviation industry is seeing a short-term decline in the number of active pilots due to the mass pilot lay-offs and furloughs last 2020 because of the pandemic.
But even with the current economic and pandemic-related challenges that caused a significant drop in air travel, it is forecasted that over 11,000 additional aircraft will be added to the active flights in the next 10 years. With the increase in new aircraft and flights, the demand for new pilots is expected to continue with a predicted need of about 27,000 new pilots by the end of 2021.
With the growing demand for pilots, earning one’s wings to fly at this very moment can put one to an advantage. The rising pilot demand means there’s a sky full of opportunities for those who decide to pursue their dreams of flight.
